Who we are

Born on the Nile

Kiira Rafting opened its doors in 2017, founded by guides who had already spent years on this river working for other companies. We know every sandbar and curve between Bujagali and the take-out.

A company built by river guides

Kiira Rafting was founded by Joshua South, a guide who grew up on the White Nile and spent years learning every rapid between Bujagali and the take-out. His idea was simple: a Ugandan-owned company could run this river better than anyone, because it is home.

From one raft and a small crew, Kiira has grown into a daily operation offering rafting, tubing and kayaking from our base on Kamoga Road in Bujagali village, just outside Jinja. Groups come from Kampala for the weekend, from lodges around Jinja for the day, and from all over the world for the rapids they have read about. Whichever you are, you get the same crew, the same equipment and the same care.

What we stand for

How we run our river

Safety is the whole job

Every trip runs with safety kayakers, a rescue raft and first-aid trained guides. Gear is checked before it leaves the store and replaced on schedule.

Local ownership

Kiira is Ugandan owned and Ugandan staffed. Your trip supports guides, drivers, cooks and boat crews who live in Bujagali village.

Honest advice

If grade 5 is not right for your group, we will tell you. We would rather you have the best day possible than sell you the biggest trip.

Respect for the river

We run clean trips, carry out everything we carry in and work with the community that shares this stretch of the Nile.
