Kiira Rafting is a local, Uganda-owned rafting company founded in the legendary Bujagali Village in Jinga, Uganda. Since opening our doors in 2017, we have built an excellent reputation for white water rafting on the Kiira (Nile) River. Our staff and guides hold decades of river experience, as well as comprehensive river safety and first aid training. We follow International Rafting Federation guidelines and the team stays up to date on industry best practices.

At Kiira we are passionate about whitewater and we have dedicated our lives to it! When you book a rafting adventure with us you are getting the culmination of our experience and passion delivered to you out on the river. We don’t just take you rafting, we share our love of the river and our craft with you – we show you our playground, our River – the mighty White Nile. Whether you want to challenge yourself on adrenaline pumping rapids or relax while tubing the flats, our team will happily meet all of your adventure needs.

Why Raft the Nile River?

World's best whitewater rafting!

The River Nile, locally known as the Kiira River, is well known as the world’s longest river. It begins its journey of 6,650 km to the sea right here in Jinja, Uganda. After leaving Lake Victoria and flowing past Jinja the Nile offers some of the best whitewater in the world! Huge roller coaster waves, warm water free of crocs and hippos, and beautiful riverside scenery are characteristic of this legendary stretch of river. Whether you are looking for adrenaline pumping class 5 rapids, or a family friendly tubing trip, come check out the Nile for yourself with Kiira Rafting!

Meet Kiira's Owner, South

South is a Jinja local, born and raised on the banks of the White Nile. From a young age South was drawn to the water, fishing to help feed his family by age 8 and learning to kayak at age 13. Since his first time in a kayak, South was hooked on whitewater sports, and has dedicated much of his personal and professional life to kayaking and rafting. Since 2011 he has worked on the White Nile as a raft guide and safety kayaker, and has taught whitewater kayaking, rafting, and river rescue seasonally in the USA for the National Outdoor Leadership School since 2022. South decided to purchase Kiira Rafting from its founders in 2024 with the goal to provide exceptional river experiences to clients while also supporting the local community by creating jobs and developing the next generation of Ugandan whitewater guides and kayakers.
